In 2010, a six-year State Strategic Plan (SSP) aimed at halting and reversing the spread of HIV infection as well as mitigating the impact of HIV/AIDS by 2015 was developed by a wide range of stakeholders with Kaduna State Agency for the Control of AIDS (KADSACA). This State Strategic Plan (SSP) aimed to provide direction for the state’s response to HIV/AIDS as well as inform the derivation and implementation of annual operational plans and reporting of all those implicated in the state’s HIV response. Subsequently, a Mid-Term Review (MTR) of the Kaduna State HIV/AIDS strategic plan was conducted in August, 2013 and recommendations were made on steps to be employed to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the State Strategic Plan (SSP).
Following the review; the Kaduna State Agency for the Control of AIDS (KADSACA) in collaboration with Enhancing Nigeria’s Response to HIV/AIDS (ENR) contracted Preston Associates for International Development. to facilitate a workshop aimed at appraising the Mid-Term Review and identifying intervention opportunities. Furthermore, the workshop aimed to update the State Strategic Plan (SSP) by identifying and prioritising the key findings and recommendations of the MTR, amongst other objectives.
