Educating Nigerian Girls in New Enterprises (ENGINE) was a UK Department for International Development (DFID) and Coca-Cola Company funded project from 2013 to 2017. The ENGINE programme was implemented in the Nigerian states of Kano, Kaduna and Lagos, and Federal Capital Territory (FCT). ENGINE aimed to improve learning outcomes and the economic status of over 18,000 marginalized adolescent girls (both in-school and out-of-school) aged 16-19, by the end of 2016.
Preston Associates was contracted as the External Evaluator for the two Cycles of the ENGINE programme. Preston conducted an impact evaluation using Randomized Control Trial (RCT) experimental design and Value for Money (VfM) assessment. These were achieved through collaboration on survey design and M&E framework, tool adaptation (EGMA and EGRA), mapping and randomization of research schools, household mapping, document review, cohort monitoring, VfM assessment, analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, process and milestone reports (Monthly, Quarterly, Baseline, Midline, and Endline).
