Health Workforce Management

Banyan Global contracted Preston Associates to conduct the Health Workforce Management (HWM) Activity in rural and remote areas of Ebonyi, Sokoto, Bauchi and Kebbi States as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Nigeria. The HWM Activity is a five-year (2020 – 2025) task order funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) with the goal of supporting the establishment of a cost-effective, well-trained, and motivated health workforce to address the shortage of skilled healthcare workers in the aforementioned States. Some of the objectives of the HWM are to strengthen governance and management of the health workforce, to strengthen the pre-service training learning environment and in-service training program amongst several others.
Preston Associates delivered an integrated service constituted of formative research and routine Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Activities using qualitative and quantitative methods to provide required information on the Health Workforce Management (HWM) Activity, in the areas of attrition, deployment, recruitment and retention. Preston Associates also conducted State-specific desk reviews, as well as Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), In-Depth Interviews (IDIs), stakeholder workshops and validation of data to provide context for identified project objectives.
